This specimen was lot 340 in Nomisma Aste e-live-auction 3 (Verona, Italy, May 2023), where it sold for 40 euro (about US$52 including buyer's fees). The lot description noted, "Savoy Vittorio Emanuele III (1900-1946) 2 Lire "Fascio" 1923 - NI - qFDC/FDC. (kingdom of Italy, Victor Emanuel III, 1900-46, tow lire of 1923, Fascist type, nickel, about uncirculated.)" This type was struck for the kingdom of Italy 1923-35. Vittorio Emanuele III succeeded his father Umberto upon the latter's assassination in 1900, but by 1923 he had yielded to the Fascists, whose symbol appears on the reverse. The issues of 1923-26 are readily available but those of 1927-35 are rare, being struck for presentation only.
