This specimen was lot 72405 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $204. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Lira, 1923-R. Rome Mint. NGC MS-66. Tied with just one other example for the finest graded by NGC, this brilliantly lustrous Gem offers tremendous eye appeal and radiating allure." This type was issued in large numbers 1922-24 but mintages for 1926-35 were for presentation only, much like the twenty lire. The SCWC lists the late issues only in uncirculated.
