This specimen was lot 25065 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $2,585. The catalog description[1] noted, "Vittorio Emanuele III gold 100 Lire 1923-R, MS60 PCGS Matte, lightly toned with typical small surface marks on both sides. Struck to celebrate the first anniversary of Fascist rule in Italy." This rare type was issued in 1923 only in such small quantities as to be presentation pieces.
