This specimen was lot 22232 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $14,687.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Vittorio Emanuele 100 Lire 1925-R, Proof 65 Matte NGC, superb surfaces, virtually pristine and most attractive. An artistic commemorative in neoclassic style celebrating the 25th year of reign. Very rare in this superior quality." This commemorative was the last hundred lire struck to the old weight standard and was probably issued to the king's friends and Mussolini's cronies. The next issue (KM 72) was considerably smaller.

Recorded mintage: 5,000.
