Liechtenstein 1728-M 10 ducats Fr-8

from the Stack's Bowers 2019 ANA sale, lot 21309

This specimen was lot 21309 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2019), where it sold for $1,740. The catalog description^[1] noted, "LIECHTENSTEIN. 10 Dukaten (Ducats), 1728-M. Munich Mint. PCGS MS-63 Gold Shield. Modern restrike issue, ca. 1968. An attractive and choice piece, this modern issue offers extremely lustrous surfaces along with a charming, slightly matte nature. A few scattered marks, though a thoroughly wholesome example." The prince issued a half thaler (KM 1), a thaler (KM 2) and a gold ducat (Fr-9) in 1728; all are rare. Restrikes exist of the ducat and ten ducat and other gold issues of the eighteenth century and these sell for bullion.

Recorded mintage: unknown plus 50,000 restrikes.
