Sincona sale 47, lot 1935

This specimen was lot 1935 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 3,000 CHF (about US$3,600 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"LIECHTENSTEIN, Josef Johann Adam, 1721-1732. Taler 1728, Wien. Sehr selten. Fast sehr schön. Fassungsspuren. (Germany, principality of Liechtenstein, Joseph John Adam, 1721-32, thaler of 1728, Vienna mint. Very rare, About very fine, Traces of mounting.)"

This one-year type struck in Vienna for Liechtenstein is rare and expensive. It was accompanied by KM 1 (half thaler), Fr-9 (ducat) and Fr-8 (10 ducat). The princes of Liechtenstein are not recorded as having visited their realm until after World War One.
