Sincona sale 87, lot 2792

This specimen was lot 2792 in Sincona sale 87 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 3,000 CHF (about US$4,040 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"LIECHTENSTEIN, Josef Johann Adam, 1721-1732. 1/2 Taler 1728, Wien. Sehr selten. Nur 600 Exemplare geprägt. Attraktives sehr schön. (principality of Liechtenstein, Joseph John Adam, 1721-32, half thaler of 1728, Vienna mint. Very rare. Only 600 pieces struck, Attractive very fine.)"

This rare type was struck 1728-29. It accompanied a thaler and a ten ducats.

Specification: 14.03 g, 0.875 fine silver, this specimen 14.63 g.
