Stack's Bowers 2014 ANA sale, lot 30355

This specimen was lot 30355 in Stack's Bowers ANA auction (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHILE. 8 Escudos, 1820-SoFD. PCGS Genuine--Cleaning, VF Details Secure Holder. From the Joseph Vas Collection." This type was struck 1818-34 in moderate quantities but increased demand has made this coin expensive.

Recorded mintage: 35,000.

Specification: 27 g, 0.875 fine gold, .760 troy oz AGW.
