The first specimen was lot 1237 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $193.60. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA, Republic. 1825-present. CU Centavo. Paris mint; différents: cornucopia and fasces. Jean Lagrange, engraver general. Régie des Monnaies, directors. Dated 1883 A. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 64 BN. Lovely toned uncirculated with hints of red surrounding the shield. One year only type." This scarce type is the first readily available centavo produced during Bolivia's second decimal coinage of 1871-1951. No more were issued in the nineteenth century.
