CNG Lissner sale, lot 1238

This specimen was lot 1238 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $393.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA, Republic. 1825-present. CU 2 Centavos. Paris mint; différents: cornucopia and fasces. Jean Lagrange, engraver general. Régie des Monnaies, directors. Dated 1883 A. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 65 BN. Although graded brown, the coin appears to be red-brown with 50-60% subdued red showing. One year only type." These were produced under contract for Bolivia along with base metal one, five and ten centavos. They do not seem to have been a success, as none were produced again.

Recorded mintage: 250,000.
