This specimen was lot 74334 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $105. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. 20 Kreuzer, 1868. Vienna Mint. Franz Joseph I. NGC MS-63." When the thaler shrank from the convention thaler (28.06 g) to the vereinsthaler (18.52 g), the minor coinage shank as well, including this twenty kreuzer. It was struck without mintmark in large quantities 1868-72.
Recorded mintage: 30,000,000.
Specification: 2.66 g, 0.500 fine silver.
