This specimen was lot 3354 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 275 CHF (about US$415 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RDR / ÖSTERREICH Franz Joseph I. 1848-1916. 2 Gulden 1868 A, Wien. Vorzüglich-FDC. Kleine Kratzer. (empire of Austria-Hungary, Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, double florin of 1868, Vienna mint. About Uncirculated, Small scratches.)"
When Bismarck kicked Austria out of Germany after the war of 1866, German and Austrian coins began to diverge. The thaler was abandoned in 1872 for the florin, which in turn was superseded by the corona in 1892. This type of double florin was struck 1867-72. This date is somewhat scarce, especially compared to Dav-27 of 1872-92.
Recorded mintage: 61,317.
Specification: 24.69 g, 0.900 fine silver, 36 mm diameter, lettered edge, designed by Josef Tautenhayn, this specimen 24.69 g.
