This specimen was lot 1198 in Jean Elsen sale 162 (Brussels, June 2025), where it sold for €190 (about US$263 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"NEDERLAND, De Bataafse Republiek (1795-1806), AR 3 gulden, 1795, Gelderland. Met grote letters. Vz/ Nederlandse maagd leunend op een bijbel op een altaar. Kz/ Generaliteitswapen met kroon tussen de waarde. Mooie patina. (Netherlands, Batavian Republic, 1795-1806, silver three gulden of 1795, Gelderland mint, with large letters. Obverse: the Dutch maid stands, leaning on a pedestal; reverse: crowned arms of the Generality. nice patina, Very Fine.)"
The province of Gelderland struck three gulden for the United Provinces in 1721, 1764 and 1786. The old design was reused for this issue of the Batavian Republic 1795-96 along with Holland, Utrecht and Westfriesland.
