Künker sale 406, lot 4578

This specimen was lot 4578 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €1,900 (about US$2,493 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Leopold I. 1657-1705. Reichstaler 1704, GE, Prag. Münzmeister Gregor Egerer. Hübsche Patina, min. Schrötlingsfehler, vorzüglich. (Austria, Leopold I, 1657-1705, thaler of 1704, Prague mint. Handosme patina, minor plachet defects, extremely fine.)"

This two year type of 1703-04 is fairly scarce. The production of the Prague mint dwindled greatly after the devastation of the Thirty Years War.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver, this specimen 28.72 g.

Catalog reference: KM 624 (listed under Bohemia), Dav-1007; Dietiker 903; Halacka 1395; Voglh. 231 V.
