Sincona sale 34, lot 4244

This specimen was lot 4244 in Sincona sale 34 (Zürich, October 2016), where it sold for 1,100 CHF (about US$1,306 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA. Leopold I. 1657-1705 Taler 1703. Prag. Vorzüglich. Hübsche Tönung. (Holy Roman Empire, Leopold I, 1657-1705, thaler of 1703, Prague mint. Extremely fine, handsome toning.)"

This two year type of 1703-04 is fairly scarce. The production of the Prague mint dwindled greatly after the devastation of the Thirty Years War.
