This specimen was lot 74134 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $528. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. Penny, 1915-(L). London Mint. George V. PCGS MS-63 Red Brown. A well struck Penny with patchy obverse toning and hues ranging from light golden to dark plum. From the Richard Margolis Collection." The silver coinage for Australia commenced in 1910 but bronze pennies and halfpennies were not struck until 1911. As such, none were struck with the effigy of Edward VII. This date is somewhat scarce but expensive in nice condition. This is the last year the London mint struck pennies for Australia.
