This specimen was lot 45623 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $2,520. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. Gold 500 Yuan, 2020-(Y). Shenyang Mint. Panda Series. NGC MS-70." The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. The gold panda is one of the most popular. The one ounce panda was raised from 100 yuan to 500 yuan in 2000 and reduced in weight from 31.1 g to 30 g in 2016. The SCWC has not updated its listings of pandas since 2012.

Recorded mintage: 1,000,000.

Specification: 30 g, 0.999 fine gold, 32 mm diameter, 0.96 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: Numista #183647.
