This specimen was lot 6412 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $587.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. 100 Franc, 1998. NGC PROOF-69 ULTRA CAMEO. Treasures of the Nile - Scribe Accroupi. Frosted cameo devices with hard mirror fields. Mintage of only 2000 pieces." Starting in the 1980's, the Paris mint issued so many NCLT's that the standard catalogs had to drop them to keep the books a manageable size. This one was struck to promote the Egyptian exhibit at the Louvre.

Recorded mintage: 2,000.

Specification: 17 g., .920 fine gold, 0.502 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: Fr-698; KM-1210.
