This specimen was lot 2078 in Goldberg's NY International sale 59 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $228. The catalog description[1] noted, "Denga 1794 EM. Authenticated and graded by PCGS AU 58 (# 413228). Deep café au lait brown. Choice almost uncirculated." This type was struck 1763-96 in the Ekaterinburg mint for circulation in Russia during the reign of Catherine the Great. Hundreds of millions were issued between the Annensk, Moscow, Sestroretsk, Kolyvan, Ekaterinburg and St. Petersburg mints. The mintage listed below consumed 1,072 metric tons of copper. Many survive today but few in choice condition.
