Sincona sale 9, lot 3880

This specimen was lot 3880 in Sincona sale 9 (Zürich, October 2012), where it sold for 180 CHF (about US$228 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Württemberg, 1806 Königreich Kronentaler 1837. Fast vorzüglich-vorzüglich. (Kingdom of Württemberg, crown thaler of 1837, extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1825-37 and this is a common date but later vereinsthaler from the 1850's are much more available. The SCWC divides Dav-954 into two types, KM 561 issued 1825-33 and KM 571 issued 1834-37.

Recorded mintage: 170,000.
