This specimen was lot 32625 in Heritage sale 3089 (Dallas, TX, January 2021), where it sold for $4,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "Germany. Prussia. Wilhelm II gold Proof 10 Mark 1901-A PR65 Cameo PCGS, Berlin mint. The first example of this scarce Proof that we have offered since 2013, featuring a predominant mint frost over the sharply raised devices. At present, the single finest certified across NGC and PCGS combined." This type, issued 1890-1913, is common and is a product of the Berlin mint. The proofs are rare.
Recorded mintage: 701,930 plus proofs.
Specification: 3.98 g, 0.900 fine gold, .115 troy oz AGW.
