from the Stack's Bowers 2017 Collector's Choice sale, lot 72863

This specimen was lot 72863 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Santa Ana, CA, May 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "PERU. 50 Soles, 1951. NGC MS-64. Sharply struck, bright and flashy." This denomination, struck 1950-69, was theoretically a circulating coin but actually was a bullion piece like her sisters, the gold five, ten, twenty and hundred soles.

Recorded mintage: 5,292.

Specification: 23.405 g, 0.900 fine gold, .677 troy oz AGW.
