Peru SB517-72863r.jpg

This specimen was lot 72863 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Santa Ana, CA, May 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. 50 Soles, 1951. NGC MS-64. This denomination, struck 1950-69, was theoretically a circulating coin but actually was a bullion piece like her sisters, the gold five, ten, twenty and hundred soles.

Recorded mintage: 5,292.

Specification: 23.405 g, 0.900 fine gold, .677 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: Fr-79; KM 230.
