This specimen was lot 4723 in Sincona sale 9 (Zürich, October 2012), where it sold for 5,750 CHF (about US$7,273 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"MEXIKO Felipe V. 1700-1746. Escudo 1736. Assayer MF. FDC. (Mexico, Philip V, 1700-46, escudo of 1736, uncirculated.)"
All Mexican colonial gold may be considered scarce. This type, the only one showing the bust of Philip V, was struck 1732-47.

Specification: 3.38 g, 0.917 fine gold, .100 troy oz AGW, this specimen 3.40 g.
