This specimen was lot 25281 in Heritage sale 3015 (Long Beach, September 2011), where it sold for $4,887.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Felipe V gold 8 Escudos 1736-MF, XF45 NGC, lightly toned with luster in the legends, very little wear evident on the bust. A handsome example of this early type and date." This type is listed for 1732-47 and is the first milled eight escudos of Mexico. It is not particularly rare but is in high demand, so it is expensive.
