This specimen was lot 1012 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $2300. The catalog description[1] noted, "1842 R 2 escudos. Rioja mint. AU-55 (NGC). Types as above. Medium toned yellow gold with good eye appeal. This is the only readily collectible portrait issue of General Rosas, but is also very scarce. From the John H. Clapp Collection; Clapp estate to Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr., 1942."
