This specimen was lot 41355 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. Taler, 1710-RB. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg Ludwig (future George I of Great Britain). PCGS AU-58. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This type was issued 1700-11 (confusingly, the 1700 issue is catalogued as Dav-6653). Wild man thalers were issued from this locality as late as 1755. George Ludwig was promoted to king of England on the death of his cousin Anne Stuart in 1714. This is the period when the electorate ceased to be known as Brunswick-Luneburg and called Hannover instead.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver.
Catalog reference: Dav-2065; KM-35; Welter-2143.
