Stack's Bowers 2023 NYINC sale, lot 41545

This specimen was lot 41545 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony. Schreckenberger, 1564. Dresden Mint. August I. NGC AU Details--Polished." This type was struck 1558-69. The schreckenburger equalled 12 kreuzer (one fifth of a gulden or one sixth of a thaler).
