Áureo y Calicó sale 346, lot 1193
Artois in 1559, from Shepherd's atlas. Tournai is in Flanders, near the Hainaut border

This specimen was lot 1193 in Áureo y Calicó sale 346 (Barcelona, March 2020), where it sold for €1,025 (about US$1,353 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"1631. Felipe IV. Tournai. 1 corona. Bella. Parte de brillo original. Ex Colección Isabel de Trastámara 25/05/2017, nº 1234. Escasa. EBC-. (county of Tournai, Philip IV, gold crown of 1631. Handsome, some luster, scarce, about extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1622, 1629-33, 1636, 1640-49. Altho not listed as rare, there are surprisingly few auction records for it and this is the first one we've added to the Wiki.

Recorded mintage: 11,000.

Specification: 3.41 g, 0.882 fine gold, this specimen 3,39 g.

Catalog reference: KM 43, Delm-449, Fr-398, Vti. 1419, Vanhoudt 639.TO, Van Gelder & Hoc 326-9.
