The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''ITALIEN, Firenze, Leopoldo II. di Lorena, 1824-1859. Francescone 1859. Gutes vorzüglich.''" (Florence, Leopold II of Lorraine, 1824-59, francescone, good Extremely Fine.)</blockquote>  This type, struck 1845-48 and 1856-59, superseded a similar coin with a younger bust of the duke (KM C75a) struck 1833-41. A francescone, equivalent to the old [[Tuscany 1684 piastra Dav-4212|piastra]] or tallero, was worth four fiorini or ten paoli. UBS sale 85, lot 967

This specimen was lot 967 in UBS sale 85 (Zürich, September 2010), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALIEN, Firenze, Leopoldo II. di Lorena, 1824-1859. Francescone 1859. Gutes vorzüglich." (Florence, Leopold II of Lorraine, 1824-59, francescone, good Extremely Fine.)

This type, struck 1845-48 and 1856-59, superseded a similar coin with a younger bust of the duke (KM C75a) struck 1833-41. A francescone, equivalent to the old piastra or tallero, was worth four fiorini or ten paoli. In the 1850's, Tuscany was ruled by a Hapsburg prince, Leopold II.
