This specimen was lot 21772 in Heritage sale 3004 (New York, January 2009), where it sold for $977.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Tuscany. Cosimo III Piastra 1684, AU55 NGC. Well struck and nicely toned with traces of remaining luster. Very scarce in this Choice condition." This type was struck by the Medici Grand Duke of Tuscany 1683-1694. It likely traded equal to the tolleri struck at the same time for Livorno.
