The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''Osterreich. II. Republik, seit 1945. 2 Schilling 1952, Wien. Gutes vorzüglich.'' (second republic of [[Austria]], since 1945, two schillings of 1952, Vienna mint. Good extremely fine.)"</blockquote> This type was also struck 1946-47; the other dates are common. Austria began minting euros in 2002, rendering this coin obsolete. The old Hapsburg eagle clasped an orb and scepter, symbols of imperial power; the republican eagle holds a hammer and sickle, symbols of the hard work needed to rebuild from the disaster of World War Two.

Sincona sale 77, lot 2983

This specimen was lot 2983 in Sincona sale 77 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 200 CHF (about US$243 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Osterreich. II. Republik, seit 1945. 2 Schilling 1952, Wien. Gutes vorzüglich. (second republic of Austria, since 1945, two schillings of 1952, Vienna mint. Good extremely fine.)"

This type was also struck 1946-47; the other dates are common. Austria began minting euros in 2002, rendering this coin obsolete. The old Hapsburg eagle clasped an orb and scepter, symbols of imperial power; the republican eagle holds a hammer and sickle, symbols of the hard work needed to rebuild from the disaster of World War Two.

Recorded mintage: 148,500 + proofs.

Specification: 2.8 g, aluminum, 28 mm diameter, plain edge. This specimen is 2.79 g.
