from the Stack's Bowers 2018 ANA sale, lot 42372
Colombia SB818-42372r.jpg

This specimen was lot 42372 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $1,140. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. Cundinamarca. 1820-JF 2 Reales. Bogotá mint. F-12 (PCGS). A rare type with the LIBERTAD AMERICANA obverse and a Nueva Granada reverse. Light silver gray with various marks and lines and a shallow lamination across the central reverse." This type was struck for the shortlived regime of Nueva Granada in 1819-20 and it is much scarcer than the similar two reales (KM C5) struck for Cundinamarca province.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 4.98 g, 0.666 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM 77, Restrepo 140.2.
