United States 1822 quarter rev DSLR.jpg

This type, struck 1815-28 in small quantities, is somewhat available in circulated condition. The ready availability of Mexican two reales limited demand for this denomination. The 1822 is listed as a common date tho its mintage is below average. A rare "25/50 C" variety exists. It was slightly modified in 1831 to allow the use of steam powered presses.

Recorded mintage: 64,080.

Specification: 6.74 g, 0.892 fine silver, .193 try oz ASW, 27 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by John Reich.

Catalog reference: KM 44.
