This specimen was lot 29813 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $881.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Federal Republic Proof 5 Mark 1960-D PR66 Cameo NGC, Munich mint. Sparkling and choice, this Proof example features frosty design elements and dappled, oil-slick iridescent tone that sits atop mirrored fields. The reverse experiences a bit of haze, but the overall allure of this coin is absolutely sharp." This type was minted in West [[Germany]] at all the mints (D, F, G, J) 1951 and 1956-74. This is a fairly common date tho the proofs are rare. Commemorative five marks were minted to this weight standard until 1975, when the weight was lowered to 5.3 grams.
