Germany 1960-D 5 mark
This specimen was lot 29813 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $881.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Federal Republic Proof 5 Mark 1960-D PR66 Cameo NGC, Munich mint. Sparkling and choice, this Proof example features frosty design elements and dappled, oil-slick iridescent tone that sits atop mirrored fields. The reverse experiences a bit of haze, but the overall allure of this coin is absolutely sharp." This type was minted in West Germany at all the mints (D, F, G, J) 1951 and 1956-74. This is a fairly common date tho the proofs are rare. Commemorative five marks were minted to this weight standard until 1975, when the weight was lowered to 5.3 grams.
Recorded mintage: 1,040,000 plus proofs.
Specification: 11.2 g, 0.625 fine silver, .225 troy oz ASW, 29 mm diameter.
