Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale, lot 72616

This specimen was lot 72616 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. Basel. Assis, 1708. NGC MS-66. An elegant and attractive minor issue for the city, this Superb Gem presents a strong strike, hints of brilliance, and a pastel tone that exudes a springtime pastoral feel." This type was struck only in 1708 yet is not rare.
