This specimen was part of lot 20421 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), which sold for $3,290. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. 1/2 & 2/3 Talers, ca. 16th to 18th Century. 14 pieces in lot. An interesting grouping of material with many better pieces. Highlights included are 1672 and 1674 Madgeburg 2/3 Talers, 1719 Saxony 1/2 Marriage Taler, 1702 & 1727 Saxony 2/3 Talers, 1535 Annaberg 1/2 Taler as well as other interesting pieces. Some have been cleaned, scratched, have corrosion and/or have other defects. Close personal inspection is advised and will reward the diligent bidder. A great lot for the intermediate or advanced collector looking to expand their collections." This gulden, or two-thirds thaler, was issued in 1727 for the death of the elector's wife, Christiane Eberhardine. It was accompanied by KM 856 (1/6 thaler), KM 857 (⅓ thaler), KM 859 (thaler) and KM 861 (ducat). There is also a regular issue gulden, with the elector's bust (KM 775), for 1727.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver.
Catalog reference: KM 838.
