Stack's Bowers 2021 NYINC sale, lot 24504

This specimen was lot 24504 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $552. The catalog description^[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Ruble, 1737. Kadashevsky (Moscow) Mint. Anna. ANACS EF-45 Details--Corroded, Cleaned. Variety with 9 pearls in hair and brooch on chest. A gunmetal gray specimen with some noted issues, but otherwise pleasing and emanating from the later years of the decade-long reign of Anna." Two types are noted for 1737; the other (Dav-1674) has a larger bust of the empress and the date above the eagle. Both are scarce. Collecting Russian coins is made more confusing by the plethora of competing catalog numbering systems.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.
