Russia 1736 ruble Dav-1673
This specimen was lot 30541 in Heritage sale 3037 (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Anna Rouble 1736 AU55 NGC, Kadashevsky mint, Obv. Crowned bust right. Rev, Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle with date and value. Well struck, with medium gray toning and considerable remaining original mint luster. The surfaces are remarkably free of significant flaws and the overall appearance is quite pleasing." Collecting Russian coins is made more confusing by the plethora of competing catalog numbering systems. This type is listed for 1734-37. It is not rare but rather expensive in nice condition.
