This specimen was lot 21502 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Las Vegas, August 2020), where it sold for $990. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Norway|NORWAY]]. Krone (4 Mark), 1693-PG. Christiania mint. Christian V. NGC AU-55. A boldly struck survivor much nicer than normally encountered displaying rich grey tone complemented by a lovely light iridescent sheen of sunset hues. A wholesome and original looking example that appears to have been plucked from circulation early on and saved certain to catch to the attention of discerning collectors. We note that several inferior examples in a November 2016 Scandinavian auction graded F-VF each brought over $1100- hammer plus the buyer fee." This coin is a little small to be classed as a thaler (an honor more properly belonging to the contemporary six mark or [[Norway 1659-FG specie daler Dav-3607|specie daler]]), but it has a Davenport number so we will include it. It was struck 1681-95 and is somewhat available. Norway passed from Danish to Swedish rule in 1807.
