Norway 1690-HCM 4 mark Dav-3666
This specimen was lot 11128 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €3,000 (about US$3,127). The catalog description[1] noted, "NORWAY. Krone, 1690-HCM. Kongsberg Mint. Christian V. NGC EF-40. Plain Edge. A scarce date with a stellar provenance. From the L. E. Bruun Collection. Ex: Countship of Brahesminde Collection (Private Sale - 1922). Ex: Peter von Hemmert Collection (Copenhagen - 1807) Lot #1314." This type was struck 1689-99. While it is not particularly common, it is often collected in lieu of the much rarer specie dalers. The Christiania mint also struck kroner in 1689 (Dav-3663). One specie daler was six mark or 96 skilling.
