This specimen was lot 6271 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $376. The catalog description[1] noted, "DOMINICA. 150 Dollars, 1978. NGC PROOF-66 ULTRA CAMEO. Similar to the listed Krause variety but without the fineness as pictured and with "CHI" in circle below denomination. Some light breaks to the frosting on the bust but otherwise flashing and brilliant." This type exists in several varieties, depending on the presence or absence of the mintmark and fineness stamp. Due to lack of demand, there is little difference in price. Dominican coinage is scanty and is comprised solely of Non Circulating Legal Tender commemoratives.
Recorded mintage: KM 14.1: 300 plus 400 proofs; KM 14.2: 18 plus 116 proofs.
Specification: 9.60 g, 0.900 fine gold.
Catalog reference: Fr-2; cf.KM-14.2.
