This specimen was lot 71318 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $1,020. The catalog description[1] noted, "DOMINICA. 300 Dollars, 1978-RCM. Ottawa Mint. PCGS MS-67 Gold Shield. Mintage: 18. Commemorating independence from the United Kingdom, this VERY RARE offering exhibits a tremendously brilliant planchet and full Gem surfaces. Of no surprise, this specimen is the finest which PCGS has certified, and will assuredly fit nicely into the cabinet of a 20th century gold connoisseur." This variety, with the maple leaf mintmark of the Ottowa mint. This design is much more available without mintmark. Dominica does not issue circulation coinage, using the issues of the East Caribbean States instead.

Recorded mintage: 18 plus 82 proofs plus 1,300 without mintmark.

Specification: 19.2 g, 0.900 fine gold.
