This specimen was lot 23068 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Las Vegas, August 2020), where it sold for $528. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Iran|IRAN]]. Zand Dynasty. 1/4 Mohur, AH 1196 (1781). Khuy Mint. 'Ali Murad Khan. PCGS MS-64 Gold Shield. Previously attributed to Sadiq Khan, these types are now given to 'Ali Murad in two first two years following the death of the former. A well struck and centered coin with medium honey golden color; compare to a similar piece from the same year, a PCGS MS-63, which realized a total of $456 in our June 2020 CCO (lot 73054)." The Zand dynasty, founded by Karim Khan Zand, conquered and ruled most of Afsharid Iran (except Khorasan) in the eighteenth century. Karim Khan's successors lacked his ability and the state soon crumbled under Qajar attacks. The SCWC lists Kashan, Mazandaran, Qazvin, Rasht, Yazd and Shiraz mints (KM 561 and 564) but not Khuy.
