Áureo sale 297, lot 1579

This specimen was lot 1579 in Áureo & Calicó sale 297 (Barcelona, October 2017), where it sold for 3,500 euro (about US$4,122). The catalog description noted,

"1749. Fernando VI. Sevilla. PJ. 4 escudos. Parte de brillo original. Ejemplar muy atractivo. Precioso color. Ex Áureo 21/05/1997, nº 716. Extraordinariamente rara. EBC. (1749 four escudos of Ferdinand VI, Seville mint. Some original luster, very attractive, beautiful color, extraordinarily rare, extremely fine.)"

This type was issued at Seville 1747 and 1749. All the early four escudos of Spain are rare and expensive.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.917 fine gold, .399 troy oz AGW, this specimen 13,47 g.
