The first specimen was lot 254 in Aureo y Calicó sale 242 (Barcelona, March 2012), where it sold for 150 € (about US$233 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Fernando VII (1808-1833). 1814. Guatemala. M. Medio real. Bella. Parte de brillo original. Escasa así. EBC+/S/C-. (Ferdinand VII, 1808-33, half real of 1814, Guatemala mint. Handsome, lustrous, extremely fine to about uncirculated)."
This specimen is one of a series struck 1811-1821 at Guatemala during the reign of Ferdinand VII (1808-33). The type is not rare but nice specimens always bring a premium.
