Stack's Bowers October 2021 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70261

This specimen was lot 70261 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $105. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS. 25 Dollars, 1985-FM. Franklin Mint. PCGS PROOF-68 Deep Cameo. A brilliant Proof with hard mirrored fields and frosted cameo devices." This is another Non-Circulating Legal Tender coin issued and marketed by the Franklin mint on behalf of the British Virgin Islands before it withdrew from coinage operations in 1985.

Recorded mintage: 1,294.

Specification: 1.50 g, 0.500 fine gold.
