This specimen was lot 24458 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Provisional 4 Reales (18)23-PY, XF Details NGC (holed), a perfectly centered example with silvery gray surfaces, holed near the top as are most survivors of this provisional series. Very scarce denomination." Upon separating from the Empire of Mexico in 1823, Honduras joined the Central American Republic (1823-1839). The earliest independent coinage was of a provisional nature, lasting two years.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: KM 16.1.
