The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold Proof 5 Pounds AH 1399 (1979) PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC. A beautiful issue that was struck to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Bank of Land Reform, featuring a seated man in the foreground with a farmer tilling the soil, workers cutting grain, and three oxen in the background. Essentially flawless, with lemon-accented gold and exciting cameo contrast between the silky design elements and the watery mirrors." This NCLT was accompanied by a gold one pound (Fr-62).
Recorded mintage: 1,750 plus 250 proofs.
Specification: 26 g g, 0.875 fine gold.
Catalog reference: Fr-138 (formerly Fr-61); KM 495.
