This specimen is one of a denomination issued since the reform of the peso in 1992 (one new peso = 1000 old pesos). The original type, produced 1992-2009, was 2.08 g, but the fall in the value of the peso (MXN$1 = US5.6¢ in September 2017) forced a reduction in weight. The other minor denominations (25¢, 50¢) were also reduced.

Recorded mintage: 419,017,000.

Specification: 1.75 g, Stainless steel, 14 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 934.
